of diversity, abundance, and approachability and travel to Madagascar
for this purpose is most rewarding. Madagascar also offers
spectacular landscapes, an unusual history, and a countryside full
of generally friendly and wonderful people.
A Safari Journey type
A safari hobie cat journey allows participants while sailing on bivouacs to enjoy at the fullest the places that are being visited, without any time restrictions (except the ones caused by the weather conditions).
In the morning, right after taking a substantial breakfast, prepared by the guide, the first part of the day will be devoted to the rallying to the following bivouac.
The sailing journey can go on without a stop (depending on the weather conditions), or else, can be interrupted by a halt to have lunch or take a swim.
INFORMATION ON SAFARI
Wind
Moderate north wind, from 5 to 15 knts , can be stronger in afternoon with
some local sunny wind
Participants:
From 3 to 10 persons will be split by groups of two in each catamaran.
Group is guided by a French (speaking English) skipper trained
for the organisation of safaris.
Group is alos joined by one security boat (fishelan boat) with
one skip and one cook
Required Level:
A safari is neither a nautical regatta nor a holiday camp but is an active
itinerant journey with the aim of enjoying at the fullest all the
visited landscape. In case of an individual enrolment, we advise people
to know how to tack, to bring by the lee, to heave the boat under
medium winds.
Personal Equipment:
Take some few things for the safari:
A pair of shoes for sailing (used tennis shoes or neoprene shoes),
a long tee-shirt to protect yourself from the sun (take a stretch tee shirt rather
than a cotton one), a cap, sunglasses, a waterproof and strong sun lotion.
For the nights:
A dry outfit with two or three tee-shirts, a pair of jeans, a pair of
shoes to be worn while on the bivouac, a pull over or a sweat shirt for
cooler temperatures. A light down quilt, a small toilet-case, an
electric flash-lamp, and also a mattress for better comfort on the
trampoline .Your safari bag (water proof)will be stored
on the security baot. You can also leave some bags at departure base.
Provided nautical equipment:
A18 feet+ spi long catamaran for two persons, double trapeze, life-jackets, belts,
A safari bag 40 l (luggages can be left at the base),
The entrance fees to the visited reserves during safari planned in programs
The following are not included:
Alcoholic beverages and soft drink (except for the water), personal expenses,
Any supplementary cost, not planned in the schedule, last diner

Visa
According to an official note N°1447MFB/SG/DGI/DP/M/CF01,
visa fees for stays in Madagascar are as follows as from 1st January 2008 : Less than 3 months or equal to 3 months : 160.000 MGA or 90$ euros More than 3 months to 3 years

Currency
The currency unit is AriaryThe banks and of business hotels accept
credit cards, travellers cheques and foreign currencies.

Health
No vaccination is required from travellers, except if they have
transited in an infected area. However, one had better take preventive measures against malaria, hepatitis, cholera and yellow fever.
