  One morning in 1987 (for those who will remember, on one night of 1987), some lovers of sailing, of nature and of course freedom decided to create HOBIE CAT AVENTURES.
Their aim was clear:
to allow a large number of people to enjoy seafaring trips on sport catamarans,
to offer a new way of living one's sporty vacations,
to prove that one could discover the world using a light storm-sail, which is easy to sail and allows to reach the most beautiful sea sites.
Laurent Bonnet has created HOBIE CAT AVENTURES by settling himself in La Rochelle and opening the first sailing base around the Islands of Ré, Oléron, Aix.
  The principle has then been set: hopping from one island to the other by sailing on from one wilde site to another and enjoying lonely beaches safety nature. The exotic rendez-vous were soon going to be added to the program...
During their African journey, going up from the Cap to Morocco, Laurent and his wife discovered Sierra Leone and the Archipelago of The Turtles, and there, they fell in love with the location. That is how the raid has found its sunny destination.
  For five years, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES has been welcoming sailors in Sierra Leone during the winter and in Rochelle during the summer.
More than a thousand of adventure lovers became the best ambassadors of this new type of holidays.
  Sierra Leone and its beaches, totally unknown from tourists, its waters filled with fishes (and not the frozen squared ones!), the warmth of the local inhabitants, the tropical forest was going to become the mythical destination for adventurer sailers.
During these five years, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES was able to attract a clientele that soon, started to request new destinations. Our world is huge, yet the raid could not be settled in new places without taking into consideration some mandatory rules, such as the beauty; the originality, the exceptionnal nature and the breathtaking aspect of any new site.
In 1993, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES settled three very different safaris:
Sweden and the Archipelago of the Sandan Islands where the raider ended its sailing journey in a sauna,
 Turkey and its colors and scents filled with History,
  Thailand with its bivouacs lighted with fireflies, and its perfumed food.
   Rather than concentrating itself in setting up some kind of sport competition, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES put its emphasis on the discovery the nature. One week's pace was defined depending on raiders' wills of nature and encounters.
In the morning, a 5 to 20-mile sailing route, setting up the base camp, discovery of the location's assets (fauna, flora, population). Then, at night, the magic of a fire and a few drinks enabled raiders to make up the whole world.
In 2001, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES welcomed its 5000th client , among them , 20 diferent nationalities.
Always listening carefully its clients, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES decided to offer more emotion and more discovery

On one hand, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES's organisation has undergone some evolution by replacing all its fleet, and by forming a successfull partnership with main worlwide manufacturer" Hobie Cat ".
On the other hand, the company has opened three new bases. First, the Seychelles, a real paradise for sailing and enjoying the nature of the Indian Ocean.
 
  Starting from 2003 and 2004, HOBIE CAT AVENTURES, always innovating, will offer a whole new concept of vacation: the HOBIE CAT RESORT. This catamaran training journey will have modern methods and will keep the spirit of raids (small groups of people, personnalized service, closeness with the local population, lessons from the sea). This whole new concept will also propose a fix lodging place full of charm...
2006, Madagascar with a smell of Sierra leone.........
and so on!!
